Following the good practices of community engagement at Karot Hydropower Project, an Annual Community Open Day was successfully held at the project site recently. The event aimed to strengthen ties with neighboring communities and drew around 60 participants from local area including school children, teachers and family members. 

The program started with a brief introduction outlining the purpose of the Open Day and welcoming all guests. This was followed by a speech from Mr. Liu Yonggang, Assistant CEO of China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited (CSAIL), in which he expressed sincere gratitude to local families for their participation in the activity and continuous support for the project. Senior Advisor Mr. N A Zuberi also addressed the audience, highlighting the key achievement made by the company and the beneficial contributions that the project has brought to the local community.

In order to express their gratitude for the arrangement, the school children presented handmade drawings inspired by the project to the project team, showcasing their creativity and appreciation. A group photo was taken before the site tour which offered an opportunity for the visitors to learn more about the project and its operation. The tour included the viewing platform, the spillway and the dam structure. The community members asked many questions about the reservoir, the dam and the powerhouse during the tour. 

After the site visit, a lunch was served and games were arranged for the children whose enjoyment brought a joyful and lively atmosphere to the whole activity. The event concluded with the presentation of special stationary gifts to the school children, leaving them with fond memories of the day and also supporting their future studies. 

The Open Day served as a meaningful and successful initiative. It not only strengthened the bonds between the hydropower project and the local community but also provided an engaging and informative experience for all participants.
