The Meerwind Offshore Wind Farm of Germany just refreshed monthly energy sale record

2020-02-11

The Meerwind offshore wind park has just refreshed her monthly production record with 153GWh in January of 2020, a promising start of the new year.

The China Three Gorges Group (hereinafter “CTG”) acquired 80% of the shares of this project in July 2016. CTG subsequently implemented management by strengthening advisory board authorities, nominating a senior executive from parent company, setting up and optimizing management performance evaluation. Much progress has been achieved in safety production, equipment reliability, cost control and strategic synergy.

The Meerwind Offshore Wind Farm has a capacity of 288MW, and has achieved a goal of zero HSE accident/incident in recent years. The average annual sold renewable energy exceeds 1,200GWh, and the equivalent full-load power generation hours exceed 4250. The availability of turbines has always remained above 97.5%, ranking the forefront among similar offshore wind farms. The operation and maintenance costs have decreased by 12.78% in 2019 compared to 2016. A evaluation report from Wood shows that it is somehow below the average cost of similar projects in European market. In 2019, the project adopted a comprehensive quality inspection of the wind farm before the end of the 5-year warranty period, and no severe problems are found.

In terms of project strategic synergy, WindMW has become the offshore training center of CTG. WindMW has trained eight batches of 46 offshore expertise for CTG since 2017. Now the trainees are playing an important role in CTG’s domestic offshore projects with international offshore know-how.

In addition, the WindMW team continuously cultivates its internal skills during the 5-year warranty period, and its offshore wind power project management capabilities were fully recognized by its peers. At the beginning of 2020, another offshore project has sent an offer asking WindMW to take over her offshore remote monitoring business.

In the new year,  WindMW will continue to maintain a good momentum of safe production, optimize operation and maintenance management, keep improving offshore management and wind energy generation efficiency, and contribute to the development of CTG international clean energy business.
